Here is the lastest from the Dubuque Police Department regarding shots fired yesterday in Dubuque.

          On October 4th, 2016, at 2:40 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to the 500 block of West 8th Street on the report of shots fired. Witnesses directed officers to the wooded area on the south side of 8th Street, indicating one of the individuals involved was last seen running there.

Officers located Steven K. Burrell, 21, (pictured here) of Chicago, hiding in the woods. Officers also located 2 handguns, shell casings, and damage to a parked vehicle, all in the immediate vicinity. No other property damage was located and no injuries were reported to police.

Burrell was arrested and charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm. He also had an out-of-state warrant for his arrest. Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Property Damage is an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a fine between $625 and $6,250, and imprisonment up to 2 years. Bond on the new charge was set at $2,000, but Burrell was held without bond as mandated by the arrest warrant. He remains incarcerated in the Dubuque County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are probable.
