Last weekend I went to Minnesota with my wife and another couple to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday and go to the Vikings game.

Saturday, I was tasked with keeping my friend, Tyler, preoccupied while the surprise party was being set up and coordinated by his girlfriend. We arrived at the bar the party was being held at and the surprise went perfectly! I was shocked that this day in age, with Facebook, Twitter and text messages, that you can still pull off a successful surprise party. It was awesome.

Sunday, we all went up to the Vikings game as they hosted the New England Patriots. If you read my blogs or listen to my show, you may know I'm a huge Vikings fan. The plan was to go up to the game, watch Adrian Peterson run all over the Pats and cheer them on to victory.

Late Friday, news broke that Peterson had abused his 4-year old son with a switch (a tree branch). It was disappointing and disgusting. Peterson was subsequently inactive for the game. You could certainly feel a sense of uneasiness in the crowd - especially before the game.

We saw one lady walking around with a Peterson jersey and a long tree branch. Maybe you've seen her on TV as she's been highlighted by ESPN and other outlets. It was a classless move on her part - and I'm typically the last person to take something personal.

Despite that situation looming over the team, the game was a lot of fun and it was great to watch a Vikings game outdoors with beautiful September weather.

After the game, we checked into our hotel and walked a few blocks to a renowned Minneapolis steakhouse, Manny's. I was challenged by Tyler to order the Bludgeon of Beef (see picture below). Tyler said he'd do the same. We both ordered it but truly didn't appreciate what we were getting into when we did. It's 48 oz of delicious beef and it's incredibly difficult to finish.

I did tackle 90% of it, but simply couldn't get those last bites down. Tyler took more home with him than he actually ate.

Sunday, we stopped by a pizza joint before hitting the road back home. I strongly encourage you to stop by Pizzeria Lola is you're in the Twin Cities and try some of the most delicious pizza I've ever had (I recommend the Korean BBQ).

You know you had a great vacation when you keep thinking about the trip and smiling. I've found myself doing that a few dozen times over the last 36 hrs.
