To my knowledge, I am 0.0% Irish. However, I always feel compelled to partake in the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. I feel this because of the way it's celebrated: having a really good freaking time.

I almost bought a shirt saying "I'm NOT Irish" but then it says "Kiss Me Anyway", which I thought was dumb and would certainly not be something my wife would let me leave the house wearing.

Dubuque has a proud and profound Irish history and is a GREAT place to celebrate this holiday.

I recommend getting down to Main Street in downtown Dubuque and patronizing the bars down there. The Busted Lift is a must on St. Patty's Day and I know Lot One will be open for breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The Riverboat Lounge inside the Hotel Julien Dubuque will have live music with Killkenny.

Other places you can visit on or near Main Street and have a great time: 1st and Main, Mason Dixon, Murph's South End Tap,  Paul's Tavern, Skinny Maginny's and The Hub are all fun places to grab a drink too!

For those of you who'd like to celebrate the festivities with your kids and/or get some exercise to start the day, Dyersville, IA has their 34th Annual Gaelic Gallop! Check-in and registration starts at 8:15 a.m. with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start. Later on, at 1:30 p.m., there's a parade! CLICK HERE for full details on the event (scroll down to March 14th).

St. Patrick's Day isn't until Tuesday, March 17th. The great thing about St. Patty's Day falling on a weekday is that we get to celebrate twice!
